Several hundred people turned out for the grand opening of the Kristi Yamaguchi Holiday Ice Rink at City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon on Monday evening.

The former Olympic gold medalist, two-time world champion skater and East Bay resident spoke to the crowd, along with San Ramon Mayor  Dave Hudson and Alex Mehran Sr., chairman of the board of the Sunset Development Company. The event kicked off the holiday ice skating season and celebrated the 25th anniversary of Yamaguchi’s Always Dream Foundation.

Skater Sophie Peters and skaters from Dublin Iceland performed, as well as Danville singer-songwriter Sophie Pecora of “America’s Got Talent” fame.

The rink will be open daily from noon to 9:30 p.m. through Jan. 2 at City Center Bishop Ranch, 6000 Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon. For ticket prices and other information, click here.
