The countdown begins. Only one week before the annual Turkey Trots in  Rancho Mission Viejo and Dana Point take over the cities, bringing thousands of runners, joggers, and walkers out to compete or just socialize and have fun.

Rancho Mission Viejo Turkey Trot

The eighth annual Turkey Trot on The Ranch will take place on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28. The race features 10K, 5K, and a Little Gobbler’s 1K, taking participants through different Rancho Mission Viejo’s pathways and walkways.

All proceeds from the run will benefit The Nature Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo, the entity responsible for the education and conservation of the historic land of Rancho Mission Viejo.

“This is the eighth year for the Turkey Trot, which is amazing to think about. It extends beyond the community, as it is open to everybody to come out and participate,” said Leeta Latham, Executive Director of the Nature Reserve. “As far as where The Nature Reserve fits in, we get to not only be involved in the event, but we are the recipients of all the money that is raised. We put that money specifically towards supporting our school programs, including the field trips and reducing the costs for all students to attend across the board. It helps us keep it at a more affordable level and beyond that, so the funds are dedicated towards grants for schools.”
