Hoag has recently expanded its presence in San Clemente through a series of donations and community-based programs aimed at supporting local nonprofits and residents.
Last week, Hoag donated a box truck to Family Assistance Ministries, a move that will support the nonprofit’s day-to-day operations as it works with individuals and families in the city. Family Assistance Ministries relies on transportation to carry out much of its work, including food distribution and the handling of donated goods.
According to Hoag, the truck will be used to retrieve nonperishable food, pick up donations from community drives, deliver and distribute supplies, and move inventory between pantry and program sites. The vehicle is expected to be used regularly as part of the organization’s logistics and operations.
“As Hoag continues to expand services across South Orange County, we take great pride in being an engaged partner in the communities we serve, especially here in San Clemente,” said Minzah Malik, executive director of Hoag Community Health. “Supporting Family Assistance Ministries with this box truck is more than just equipment; it’s about strengthening the capacity of a trusted local organization that is on the front lines helping families meet their most basic needs.”
The truck donation is one of several recent efforts Hoag has made in San Clemente as part of its broader community benefit work. Those efforts are guided by Hoag’s Community Health Needs Assessment, which evaluates health-related needs across South Orange County and helps inform where resources and services are directed.
“This partnership reflects Hoag’s ongoing commitment to caring for our community beyond the hospital walls — meeting people where they are, addressing barriers to health, and investing in programs that keep families healthy and supported,” Malik said. “By working with nonprofits like FAM, we’re able to strengthen community health, improve access to essential resources and ensure families have the support they need to thrive.”
