With fire season rapidly approaching and some small brush fires already breaking out, many cities are taking preventive measures to help alleviate the pressure on fire departments. Rancho Mission Viejo recently hosted a chat about wildfire resiliency for its community.

Presented by the community to point out key features they have created to make Rancho Mission Viejo more fire-resilient, Jay Bullock, Vice President of Planning and Entitlement, and Kris Maher, Senior Vice President of Community Development, came together to share those ideas.

“For decades before the recent statewide increase in wildfires, Rancho Mission Viejo has been an innovator in terms of wildfire mitigation planning,” said Bullock. “Today, The Ranch and our Neighborhood Builders are required to comply with California Building Code Chapter 7A to protect structures and their immediate surroundings from both the flames and embers associated with potential wildfires.”
