Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, California, has announced a $50 million gift from the Sun Family Foundation to create three medical institutes at the hospital’s Irvine campus.
Scheduled to open in 2025, institutes focused on women’s health, cancer care, and digestive illnesses will be housed in three-story buildings, each of which will have an atrium and surrounding gardens and landscaping. Moreover, the gift will serve as a catalyst for Hoag’s ongoing expansion, including the development of major new healthcare facilities, technology, and treatment protocols for the residents of Orange County.
David Sun and John Tu founded Kingston Technology in 1987. The Kingston Technology Foundation awarded $2 million to Hoag’s COVID-19 Fund. Diana Sun is a former Hoag Hospital Foundation board member and serves on the hospital’s expansion executive committee.
